CHARLESTON, S.C. – Kaylen Minnatee did a little of everything to help the Towson University softball team overcome the minor inconvenience of a late deficit and defeat North Carolina A&T, 6-4, in the second game of the Wingate by Wyndham Invitational at Charleston Southern Friday morning.
A junior third baseman, Minnatee homered, hit a sacrifice fly that gave the Tigers the lead for good in the sixth inning, and ended the game with a phenomenal defensive play at third base. She caught the ball and alertly dove to tag the Aggie runner out before she returned to third base for a dynamite double play.
There's no confirmation if Minnatee sold popcorn, snapped selfies and mowed the grass during the game. It just felt that way as her fingerprints were solidly all over this contest.
However, this was far from a one-woman show as the Tigers used contributions from a committee of contributors to win their first two games for the second time in three years.

Quotable
Minnatee on her defensive gem to end the game.
"At the end of the game I just knew that for the team sake we needed this last out because Melissa had been working hard for the team. We have discussed all season how we need to have each other's back so I needed to pull through for the team and took that opportunity with that line drive and tagging the girl at the end to conclude our game."
On contributing a home run and key sacrifice fly to the win.
"It felt amazing to contribute to a real team win! I knew that we needed runs and Cassidy was in the perfect position so instead of being a selfish player I put my team first. I knew that in order to get the runs we needed, I knew I had to get something into the outfield so I was looking for my pitch. I was ahead in the count and had a plan to score that run."
On the team vibe this season.
"This year is about our team and that's all I can say. We are a great group of selfless girls and everything we do is for the benefit of the team. The two wins today where a group effort and I couldn't be more happy with the way we all carried ourselves and kept battling."
