School Record and Clutch Free Throws Seal Women’s Hoops Win

TOWSON, Md. – A pair of clutch free throws with 10 seconds to play, coupled with a smothering defense at the other end sealed a 73-72 win for the Towson University women's basketball team over visiting Hofstra University.

Towson (9-14, 4-8 CAA) set a new school record with 14 blocks, besting the program's mark of 13 against Glassboro State (now Rowan University) during the 1980 season. The 14 swats tie for fifth-most in Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) contest, in addition to being the second-most blocks in a CAA contest.

Three players finished with double digits, paced by a team-high 22 by Mary Cuevas. Nukiya Mayo finished with a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. Raine Bankston added another 12 to Towson's total.

Hofstra (10-13, 4-8 CAA) was led by a game-high 29 points from Boogie Brozoski. Marianne Kalin finished with 12 points for the Pride.
