Natalie Sulmonte scored four goals as the No. 14 Tigers posted a 13-2 victory over Saint Joseph's Wednesday at Sweeney Field.
The win was the first for Towson (5-1) on the road this season where the team is 12-4 since 2016.
How it Happened
- The Tigers scored the game's first nine goals before allowing the Hawks on the board with 20:43 remaining in the second half.
- Freshman Kaitlin Thornton opened the scoring just 2:40 into the game with her eight goal of the season off an assist from senior Emily Gillingham.
- Sulmonte followed with a free position tally 1:08 later before red-shirt senior Gabby Cha scored what proved to be the game-winning goal with 23:21 left in the first half off an assist from senior Kaitlyn Montalbano.
- Towson added four more goals in the half, including three on free positions and two from junior Carly Tellekamp, to take a 7-0 halftime lead.
- Sulmonte scored her second goal of the game only 1:05 into the second half before Cha added her second with 22:40 to play to put the Tigers in front, 9-0.
- Laura Lasprogata finally got the Hawks on the board when she scored her first of the season with 20:43 left.
- However, Towson would add four more tallies, including three in a span of five minutes, to take a 13-1 advantage, two of which came from Sulmonte.
- The Hawks (3-4) capped the scoring when Lasprogata fed Kate Payne as time expired with the running clock.

- Towson scored the game's first goal for the fourth time in six games this season and is now 3-1 when scoring first.
- The Tigers scored six of their 13 goals off free position attempts where they were 6-of-7. They have scored on 27-of-44 free position attempts this season for 61.4 percent. Towson entered the game ranked third in Division I free position percentage at 56.8 percent behind Maryland (65.1) and Syracuse (61.8).
- Six different Tigers scored a goal for the Tigers, all of which came in the first half.
- The last time Towson held its opponent scoreless in a half was back on Apr. 15, 2016 when it led Hofstra 2-0 after the first half at Shuart Stadium in Hempstead, N.Y. The Tigers actually did it twice that season, holding Monmouth scoreless in the second half of the season opener, a 9-1 Towson win on Feb. 10, 2016 at Unitas Stadium.
- Sulmonte extended her scoring streak to 37 games.
- Gillingham and Tellekamp each extended their goal scoring streak to 14 games.
- Gillingham now has 98 career goals.
