Towson Falls Short In Extra Innings At UNCG

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Towson University softball team dropped a 3-2 decision in eight innings to host UNCG in the second game of the Spartan Classic Saturday afternoon.
 
The Spartans scored three runs in the final two innings to end Towson's program record 13-game winning streak. Towson had six hits and held a 2-0 advantage into the seventh inning.

How It Happened
  • UNCG's Marisa Sholtes singled with one out down the right field line to score Jasmine Palmer with the winning run.
  • The Tigers stranded runners on first and third with one out in the top of the eighth inning.
  • UNCG's Kayleigh Willis tied the game with a one-out, two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh inning.
  • Towson scored first as Shelby Stracher drove in Madison Wilson with an infield single in the top of the first inning.
  • Brook Miko doubled the Tigers lead with a solo homer in the third inning.
  • Megan Dejter tossed 3.2 hitless innings to begin the game.
  • Dejter escaped a two-out bases loaded jam in the fourth inning by retiring Rebecca Kale on a pop-up to Wilson.
  • Dejter, who threw 130 pitches, finished three innings with strikeouts.
  • Stracher reached base twice with a walk and a hit.
