Lucy Gloninger each posted singles victories, but Drexel came away with a 5-2 Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) win over the Tigers Friday at the Hecht Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania.
The loss snaps a three-match winning streak for Towson (7-7, 1-2 CAA) and is just their second in the last six matches.
The Dragons (13-3, 1-0 CAA) got the doubles point after winning two of the three flights. Gloninger and senior
Barbora Vasilkova posted a 6-4 win at No. 3 doubles over Ryshena Providence and Mya Fuentes.
In singles, Shakhnazarova defeated Kendra Bunch at No. 1, 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) while Gloninger edged Anisiya Simpson at No. 6, 7-5, 6-3.
The Tigers return home to face local rival Johns Hopkins on Wednesday, April 4 at 8 p.m.
