Miko Homers Twice In Split With Delaware

TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University softball team hit three home runs over two games in splitting a doubleheader against rival Delaware in a Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) series at the Tiger Softball Stadium Saturday.
 
Brook Miko hit two homers to power Towson's 7-4 victory in the opener. Nicole Stockinger hit a three-run homer in the nightcap, an 8-4 loss to Delaware.
 
Towson has hit 27 home runs this season, including one in three consecutive CAA games.
 
Milestone Alert
Miko tied Brook Clyde's program record of 46 career doubles in the sixth inning of the second game. She also tied Aimee Rosa for third all-time in home runs with 31. This was Miko's first career multi-homer game. Miko is the fourth Tiger in program history to have hit at least 30 career home runs.

How It Happened Game 1
  • Towson had a season high six extra base hits.
  • Miko got Towson off to a fast start with a three-run first inning home run to left field.
  • She hit a two-run homer to centerfield in the third inning that swelled Towson's lead to 5-0.
  • Riley Thies and Kendyl Scott finished the scoring for the Tigers with back to back RBI doubles in the sixth inning.
  • Scott and Stockinger had two hits each for Towson in the opener.
  • Miko and Madison Wilson scored two runs apiece.
  • Despite taking a hard line drive off of her leg in the first inning, Megan Dejter tossed her eighth complete game this season and the 60th of her career.

  • Daria Edwards had a RBI single in the first inning that scored Wilson, who doubled, with an early run that gave Towson a 1-0 lead.
  • Four of Towson's six hits went for extra bases.
  • Stockinger hit a three-run homer in the sixth inning.
  • The Blue Hens used three-run homers from Steinmetz and Mariah Kondravy in the third and fourth innings, respectively, to gain control.
  • Delaware had 12 hits and took advantage of nine walks to end Towson's 12-game home winning streak.

  • This was the 15th time this season Towson has had double digit hits in a game.
  • Scott had her team leading 16th multi-hit game of the season in the opener.
  • Scott moved past former teammate Olivia Yarbrough and into fifth place all-time on the career hits list. She has 208 for her career.
  • Towson had seven doubles during the doubleheader.
