How It Happened
- The Tigers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first four minutes and never trailed. Both goals came off free position shots, including the first off the stick of red-shirt senior Gabby Cha who had missed the last three games because of injury.
- Senior Emily Gillingham scored just over a minute later to extend her goal scoring streak to 21 games.
- Elon got on the board with 24:01 left in the first half before Towson responded with back-to-back goals from senior Kaitlyn Montalbano and Sulmonte, the last of which came on a free position with 12:54 remaining to give her 100 career goals.
- The Phoenix scored their second goal with 10:09 remaining before the Tigers responded with two-straight goals again, this time from Sulmonte and junior Carly Tellekamp, to give Towson a 6-2 halftime lead.
- Despite being on the short end of a 9-1 margin in draw controls at the half, the Tigers held the lead thanks to a 12-4 advantage in ground balls and forcing 15 Phoenix turnovers.
- Sulmonte opened the second half by scoring her third goal of the game off a free position in just 30 seconds.
- The two teams would exchange goals with Tellekamp adding her second of the game with 21:14 to play to give Towson an 8-3 lead.
- After being held to just one shot and one assist over the game's first 41:35, Elon's leading scorer, Stephanie Asher, scored with 18:25 remaining to cut the Tiger lead in half, 8-4.
- Red-shirt sophomore Maddie Dickman scored just 1:01 later to push Towson's lead back to five before sophomore Coeli Love capped the scoring with 1:33 left.
