Key Plays
  • A throwing error in the second inning allowed two runs to score in the third inning. Those runs turned out to be the winning runs.
  • The Tiger pitchers stranded the bases loaded in the third and eighth innings.

How it Happened
  • The Tigers took advantage of a pair of errors in the third inning to plate two unearned runs.
  • With one out, Mark Grunberg reached on a fielding error and Richie Palacios followed with a single through the left side.
  • Colin Gimblet hit a chopper to third that was thrown away, allowing both runners to score.
  • That would be more than enough offense for Marriggi (2-4) who allowed just three hits and struck out four over seven shutout innings.
  • Towson put together a two-out rally in the sixth to extend the lead to 3-0. Dirk Masters went the other way with a double down the right-field line and scored when Craig Alleyne lined a single into right center.
  • The advantage extended to four in the seventh inning as Trey Martinez singled and was sacrificed to second by Charlie Watters.
  • A fielding error put runners on the corners for Palacios to deliver a sacrifice fly to right center.
  • The Bulldogs threatened to get on the board in the eighth inning as they collected three singles to load the bases with two outs. Dean Stramara did not panic and calmly got a 5-4 fielder's choice to end the inning.
  • Towson came back in the ninth and padded the lead with a two-run single off the pitcher by Alleyne.
  • Stramara would work a scoreless ninth inning to complete the shutout.
  • Thomas Byelick (0-5) allowed four runs, one earned, over 6.1 innings to take the loss.

Inside the Boxscore
  • Craig Alleyne collected his first multi-hit game of the season, going 4-for-5 with three RBIs.

  • Richie Palacios singled in the third to extend his hit streak to 10 games.
  • Colin Gimblet singled in the eighth to extend his streak of reaching safely to 22 games.
