Towson Finishes Weekend Sweep Of Elon

TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University softball team defeated Elon, 5-3, in a Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) contest at the soggy Tiger Softball Stadium Sunday afternoon.

The series finale featured an 18-minute rain delay following the top of the first inning and took two hours, 50 minutes to complete. The length was worth it as Towson won its seventh consecutive contest against a conference opponent.

Highlighting Towson's triumph were senior pitcher Megan Dejter, who won her 16th game of the season and senior second baseman Daria Edwards, who extended her hitting streak to 10 with a two-run home run in the fourth inning.

Records
Elon               20-22 overall, 4-8 CAA
Towson           32-11, 8-4

Milestone Alert
Kendyl Scott singled in the first inning for her 228th career hit. It's the most hits by a softball student-athlete in Towson history. Brook Miko's RBI in the second inning was her 58th, which established a single-season record in that category. Miko's sixth-inning double was Towson's 84th, a single-season record in that category.
