Records Continue To Fall As Towson Sweeps UNCW

TOWSON, Md. – Seniors Brook Miko and Kendyl Scott each set single-season program records during Towson's two victories over UNCW in Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) softball action at the Tiger Softball Stadium Saturday afternoon.
 
Scott had three hits in each game to raise her season batting average to .487. Her third hit in the opener was a walk-off single that gave Towson a 4-3 victory. In the second game, Miko had three hits, including a pair of doubles, and drove in four runs to help the Tigers cruise to a 13-3 victory.
 
The wins helped Towson extend its winning streak to six games overall. The Tigers have also won nine consecutive CAA contests. This is the eighth time in program history that Towson has won at least 35 games in a single season.

Milestone Alert
  • Miko set the single-season record for runs scored. She has 51 after scoring twice. She surpassed teammate Shelby Stracher's previous mark of 49 set in 2016.
  • Miko is the first player in program history to score at least 50 runs in a single season.
  • Scott became Towson's single-season hits leader with a two-out double in the third inning of the opening game. She has 73 hits this season surpassing Lisa Pollock's total of 68 set in 2000.
  • Scott is the only player in program history with at least 70 hits in a single season.
  • Scott became Towson's single-season total bases leader following her single in the fourth inning of the second game. She has 119 total bases, which eclipsed Stracher's total of 118 set in 2016.
  • With her triple, Scott moved into fifth place all-time in school history. It was the 13th of her career.
  • Megan Dejter tied Shannon Johnston for second all-time with her 68th career complete game.
 
How It Happened Game 1
  • Scott's walkoff single scored Jaclyn Mounie with the winning run.
  • Mounie was running for Kaylen Minnatee, who led off the bottom of the seventh inning with a single to rightfield.
  • Kendall Arcia was hit by a pitch following Minnatee's hit setting the stage for Scott.
  • Edwards had a pair of hits.
  • Nicole Stockinger's two-run homer finished Towson's three-run third inning and gave it a 3-0 edge.
  • Stockinger leads Towson with 11 homers.
  • UNCW scored three runs in the sixth inning.
  • The Seahawks got consecutive two-out RBI singles from Meghan Whitecavage and Anna Knox to tie the game, 3-3.
