TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University baseball team could not overcome a five-run first inning in falling, 7-2, to VCU in a rain-shortened game Tuesday afternoon at Schuerholz Park. The game was called after six innings due to rain and field conditions.

- Sam Ryan (2-0) allowing one run on one hit and four strikeouts over four innings to pick up the victory.
- Dean Stramara was effective out of the bullpen as he allowed just two hits and struck out two over three shutout innings.

- The solo home run for Palacios was his team-leading fifth on the season. It was his second home run in the last three games.
