WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – For the second time in as many games, the Towson University baseball team nearly crawled out of a five-run hole, only to fall, 5-4, to William & Mary in the second game of a doubleheader Friday evening at Plumeri Park.

- After Mark Grunber advanced the runner with a bunt, Logan Burke laced a ball up the middle that hit the pitcher and resulted in an out.
- The next hitter was retired to end the game.
- For the second-straight game, WM scored the first five runs and opened a 5-0 lead.
- The Tribe put up single runs in the first and second innings.
- After the first hitters were retired in the fourth, a walk ignited a rally that included a two-run triple from Matt McDermott and a run-scoring double from Ryan Hall.
- Towson got on the board in the fifth inning thanks to a Richie Palacios home run to right center. Billy Lennox scored on the play after reaching on a single up the middle.
- The Tigers got rolling again in the sixth inning after Noah Cabrera walked and Trey Martinez was hit by a pitch to put two on with one out.
- Dirk Masters delivered a RBI single to right center and Palacios came through again with a run-scoring single to right center.
- Towson got the game off to a strong start in the first inning as they loaded the bases with one out. They could not cash in as a grounder up the middle was backhanded by the second baseman who gloved flipped to second to start the double play.
- Gavin Weyman came out of the bullpen in the fourth inning and did not allow a run over 3.1 innings. He gave up four hits and struck out six.
- Dean Stramara pitched the eighth and struck out two of the three hitters he faced.
- Bo Plagge (1-3) suffered the loss after surrendering five runs on five hits over 3.2 innings.
- Chris Farrell (2-1) gave up two runs on five hits and five walks over five innings to pick up the victory.
- Wade Strain (6) gave up a hit in a scoreless ninth to earn the save.
