TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University baseball team opened its home stand with a 9-3 loss to George Washington Tuesday afternoon at Schuerholz Park.

How it Happened
- The Colonials jumped to the early lead as they plated three runs in the fourth inning. Robbie Metz delivered the big blow with a two-run double.
- GW extended its lead with two more runs in the fifth.
- The Tigers got their offense going in the home-half of the fifth as Andrew Cassard singled to right field and went to third when Charlie Watters' sacrifice bunt was misplayed at first.
- A wild pitch scored Cassard before Watters scored on a groundout from Mark Grunberg.
- Back-to-back walks to Richie Palacios and Billy Lennox put two guys on, and Colin Gimblet came through with a run-scoring single up the middle.
- GW would add a single run in the seventh, and then insurance with three runs in the eighth.
- Matt Watters (0-1) took the loss after allowing five runs on seven hits over three innings.
- Kevin Hodgson (2-0) allowed three runs, two earned, on four hits over five innings to pick up the victory.
