- The Dukes got on the board with three unearned runs in the third after a passed ball on a strikeout with two outs. The passed ball was followed by a single and two doubles.
- JMU added to the lead in the fourth as they loaded the bases with one out. A fielder's choice was thrown away at the plate, allowing two runs to score. A third run scored on another wild throw to home with runners on the corners.
- Towson got a run back in the home-half of the inning as Richie Palacios doubled off the fence in left field and came in to score on a passed ball and a wild pitch.
- The Dukes pushed across their seventh run in the sixth on a solo home run from Adam Sisk.
- Marriggi came back after the long ball and struck out the next hitter he faced for the final out of his college career.
- The Tigers scored their second run of the game in the bottom of the sixth after Craig Alleyne singled and stole second. Noah Cabrera followed with a base hit into left center.
- JMU extended its lead with two runs in the seventh and three in the eighth.
- Towson got one more run in the eighth on a Richie Palacios double to left center.
- Marriggi (3-8) suffered the loss after allowing seven runs, one earned, on six hits and seven strikeouts over 5.1 innings.
