Neidert Scores Late but Women’s Soccer Falls at Stetson

DELAND, Fla. -- Senior forward Evelyn Neidert scored in the 82nd minute, but it was not enough as the Towson University women's soccer team fell 2-1 at Stetson University on Sunday afternoon.

Towson (0-2-0) cut the Hatters' lead in half in the 82nd minute as Neidert tallied her first goal of the season. Stetson (2-0-0) struck twice in the first five minutes of the second half to take a 2-0 lead.

The host Hatters got one goal each from Lindsey Parent and Hailey Williams. Nicole Foley assisted on the Parent goal, while she had the primary assist on the Williams marker. Lily Truong had the secondary assist on the second goal.

How it Happened
  • Towson controlled the pace in the first half, out-shooting the Hatters 7-1 in the first 45 minutes.
  • Stetson keeper Emily Plotz made two saves in the opening period.
  • The teams played to a scoreless first half as Towson goalie Megan Collins was not forced to make a save in the first 45 minutes.
  • Coming out of the break, Stetson took a quick 1-0 lead in the 49th minute as Parent scored at 48:37n on Foley's feed.
  • The Hatters doubled their lead 40 seconds later as Williams found the net after getting passes from Foley and Troung.
  • The Tigers had a pair of chances midway through the second half as Jenna Blank ripped a shot that was saved by Plotz. Thirty seconds later, Alexis Toles took a shot that was also saved by Plotz. That was Towson's final shot on goal in the game.
Behind the Numbers
  • For the game, Towson out-shot the Hatters 13-7, putting six of those chances on goal. Stetson took five shots on goal, with Collins stopping two, while Tiger defender Sam Lotti was credited with a defensive save.
  • Neither team had many chances on the corners as Towson had just one. Stetson took three corner kicks.
  • Towson committed 13 fouls, while the Hatters were called nine times.
