Women’s Soccer Edged at Bucknell

LEWISBURG, Pa. -- It was a back-and-forth evening at Emmitt Field, but the Towson University women's soccer team was edged 1-0 by a late goal against Bucknell University Friday night.

Towson (0-4-1) had several good chances in both halves, including a free kick from Evelyn Neidert in the 14th minute. Senior keeper Megan Collins made four saves on the night.

Bucknell (2-3-0) scored in the 80th minute after Jenna Mark ripped a shot that Collins initially saved, but the ball got loose with enough spin to trickle over the goal line.

How it Happened
  • Towson had the first good chance of the game after the initial feeling-out period. After a Bison foul was called just outside the box. Neidert stepped up for the free kick, but pushed the shot just off the crossbar.
  • Four minutes later, Bucknell countered back with a shot of its own from Gabby Bair, but Collins was up to the task to keep a clean sheet.
  • The Bison had the last chance on goal of the first half in the 28th minute as Riley Coopersmith took a shot from near the corner, but Collins came across to break up the play.
  • In the 42nd minute, Bucknell had a pair of shots in the box during a flurry of action, but a Tiger defender blocked one while the second went wide, sending the match into halftime scoreless.
  • Midway through the second half, Towson got a solid chance from Sarah Quick as she got Bucknell goalkeeper Theresa Adu-Attobrah moving to her right, but the shot was halted near the right post.
  • The Bison got their counter going as Emilene Parham took a shot 30 seconds later but again Collins made the save.
  • In the 80th minute, Bucknell got control of the ball near midfield, setting up Marek's goal. The Bison put a hard shot on goal that Collins knocked high, but the ball came down with enough spin to fall over the line for a 1-0 decision.
