Tigers Fall to Rider in Midweek Action

TOWSON, Md. - Wednesday night the Towson field hockey team fell to Rider at home 2-0 after Friday's game was rescheduled. The Tigers fall to 1-5 on the season while the Broncs improve to 2-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Rider scored first in the 29th minute following a penalty corner and took the lead.
  • The teams went into the half with a 1-0 Broncs lead, even though Towson was leading in shots with five and had three shots on goal.
  • In the second half the road team scored the second goal nine minutes into the period, following some bouncing around of the ball between Tigers' defenders Kat Conroy had an opening to take a shot that went to the right of Mackenzie Peacock as she dove for the save.
  • Towson only had one more shot taken in the second period and ended with six on the game, but still out-shot the Broncs 6-3.
BEHIND THE NUMBERS
  • Peacock finished her game in the net with one save and two goals allowed, while Rider's goalie was forced to make four saves.
  • The Broncs had a total of 10 penalty corners creating several opportunities to score, while Towson's defense held on to foil the majority of those attempts. 
  • Four Tigers played the entire 70 minutes, including freshmen Pamela Abbott and Gretchen Alderfer.
  • Tonight's game was the fourth this season that Towson has out-shot its opponent.
