HAMSTEAD, Mass. – Sunday afternoon the Towson University field hockey team played its second game against a Colonial Athletic Association opponent this season, falling to Northeastern 5-2 on the road.
The Tigers fall to 1-9 overall with a 0-2 conference record while the Huskies improve to 3-8, 1-1 CAA.
How it Happened
- Northeastern came out strong in the opening ten minutes, scoring two goals before the nine-minute mark.
- The Huskies held a 2-0 lead into halftime and scored their third goal of the game just four minutes into the second period.
- Towson finally cut into the lead with a goal from Katie McNeel, the senior's fifth of the season, assisted by sophomore Beira Ho.
- The home team responded 66 seconds later with another goal before freshman Angela Connolly scored yet another goal, taking a 5-1 lead.
- Freshman Gretchen Alderfer scored her first collegiate goal on a rebounded shot attempt from Kerri Thornton and cut the lead with just over a minute remaining in the game.
