UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The 2019 spring season opened Sunday for the Towson University women's tennis team as the Tigers traveled to face Penn State. Towson fell in the opener 7-0.
 
How it Happened

• The Tigers started the season with a strong opponent in the Nittany Lions, who were 2-0 entering the day and defeated George Washington in the morning before facing Towson.
• Lucy Gloninger posted the only singles win for the Tigers, a 6-2 victory in the second game of her match against Gracey Hirsch.
• Yevgeniya Shusterman came close to taking a win in her second game as well, but eventually fell 6-4.
• Doubles action featured strong performances from the home team, as the most points the Tigers posted in a game was three. Penn State took all three wins in a sweep.

Looking Ahead
Towson opens the season with a 0-1 mark, and continues spring action next Sunday, Feb. 3 at Navy starting at 2 p.m.
