TOWSON, Md. – Sunday afternoon the Towson University women's tennis team took on two opponents with an early match at Navy followed by an evening game against La Salle in Pikesville.
The Tigers were victorious over the Explorers, earning their first win of the season and moving to a 1-2 mark on the year. Towson fell to Navy 6-1 and went on to defeat La Salle.
How it Happened
- In the first game of the day the Tigers saw a win in singles from Alexa Martinez after three matches. The duo of Phoebe Collins and Amelia Lawson also took a win in doubles 6-4.
- Lucy Gloninger took a match from her Midshipmen opponent but eventually fell in singles action.
- Later on the Tigers hosted La Salle and won 4-0, the teams played to clinch.
- Against the Explorers two doubles teams took wins handily. Martinez paired with Yevgeniya Shusterman defeated their opponents 6-1.
- The duo of Themis Haliou and Gloninger took a 6-2 win to seal the doubles point.
- In singles action, Collins took wins 6-2 and 6-1 to start Towson off strong.
- Shusterman and Gloninger followed with wins of their own to give the Tigers the win in singles and an overall victory on the evening.
