HARRISONBURG, Va. – Under a brisk chilly night, the Towson University women's soccer team fell 6-0 to James Madison Thursday night inside Sentara Park.
Towson (3-11-1, 0-6-0 CAA) had six shots in the first half but James Madison (6-9-1, 3-2-1 CAA) had three goals in the first half. The Dukes added three more goals by three different sources to claim the victory in the second half.
How it Happened
- The Dukes took an early 1-0 lead after a goal by senior Maia Foley assisted by Phoebe Dinga.
- Briana Stabile had a shot on goal but the Dukes goalkeeper Hannah McShea had the save.
- Camryn Anderson took a shot 13 minutes into the game.
- JMU's Haley Crawford takes a corner feeds it to Abby Maltese for another Duke goal.
- Caroline Macdonald took a shot wide left of the goal but McShea had another save for the Dukes.
- Iris Rabot scored off a penalty kick to give the Dukes a 3-0 lead at the 27 minute mark.
- Stabile ran past a defender for an on target shot on goal but McShea had another save.
- After a cross by Monica Scaglione that bounced off the post, Anderson had a shot on goal but it was saved by McShea.
- The Tigers started the second half adding pressure on the defense. Towson's Monica Scaglione had a corner kick cross the box.
- JMU's Claire Meiser scored, assisted by Ebony Wiseman and took a 5-0 lead.
- A minute later the Dukes added to score with a goal by Ginger Deel assisted by Haley Crawford.
- Mitchell had a diving save after Haley Crawford shot to the bottom left of the goal.
- Monica Scaglione shot to the left on goal after a free kick, McShea had the save.
- Riley Rumbley had a shot towards the middle of the goal but the Dukes Melissa Hoffheins had the save.
- Annie Sorando sealed the deal for the Dukes with a shot straight down the middle with 12 minutes left to play.
- Mitchell had two more saves in the last nine minutes of the half.
Behind the Numbers
- Delaney Mitchell had nine saves in the game while her counterparts had six.
- The Dukes out-shot the Tigers 26-9.
- JMU took 13 corner kicks while Towson took 5.
