TOWSON, Md. – The 2019-20 Towson University men's basketball season has arrived. The Tigers return 10 players from last season and have an exciting schedule this season.
To help fans get hyped, each Friday through Nov. 1, there will be five random facts about the Tigers, their schedule, players, program and more heading into their season.
This is the second of six installments. Enjoy.
- Sophomore Allen Betrand is changing numbers this season. He's going from No. 3 to No. 2. Betrand played in every game last season and made five starts. He reached double digits in scoring five times. Betrand scored a career-high 11 points in road games at Drexel on Jan. 17 and Northeastern on Feb. 23.
- Senior Dennis Tunstall has at least one blocked shot in 46 of the 93 career games he has played in for Towson (49.4 percent). He blocked a career best five shots against the College of Charleston on Feb. 2, 2019. His first career blocked shot was against Stony Brook in 2016. He had two in that game and it was the first of 24 career games in which he has blocked multiple shots (25.8 percent).
- Towson will appear on national TV seven times this season. The Tigers have four games on the ESPN family of networks (Florida on Nov. 14 and all three games of the Charleston Classic from Nov. 21-24). Towson will also play three games on CBS Sports Network (Drexel on Jan. 9, Delaware on Feb. 6 and Northeastern on Mar. 1). That total will swell to eight or nine if Towson reaches the CAA semifinals and championship. Those games are on CBS Sports Network.
- Towson's roster represents eight states (Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania) and the District of Columbia.
- Brian Fobbs, Tobias Howard and Betrand combined to make 77.2 percent of Towson's overall 3-pointers last season. Eight of Towson's 10 returning players made at least one 3-pointer last season.
NOTES: Towson will participate in the third annual Baltimore Basketball Media Day on Tuesday, Oct. 8. The event takes place inside Coppin State's Physical Education Complex from 12 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.
All seven of the men's and women's NCAA Division I institutions located within an hour's drive of Coppin State are scheduled to be in attendance, including: Morgan State, Towson, Loyola, Mount St. Mary's, Navy and UMBC.
The Greater Baltimore Basketball Media Day will be hosted by Rob Long from CBS Radio. The event begins with a welcome, followed by brief introductions of each of the head coaches for a few words about their programs and concludes with a discussion on the state of local basketball.
Media availability for head coaches and student-athletes in attendance takes place until the conclusion of the event.

Towson begins its season against George Washington at SECU Arena on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. It's the second half of a women's-men's doubleheader. The Towson women host Penn State at 4 p.m.
