TOWSON, Md. - Sunday afternoon the Towson University field hockey team hosted Davidson in the first of five-straight home games.

Freshman Samantha Aljets scored first for the home team in the 3-2 loss to the Wildcats. Sophomore Kathryn Parkinson scored the Tigers' second goal. Both scores were assisted by Georgia Beachley.

Towson remains at hope to open conference play on Friday, Oct. 11 at 2 p.m. at the TU Field Hockey Complex.

How it Happened
  • The opening minutes of play were slow with back and forth possession.
  • Davidson earned the first corner of the day, taken in the end of the seventh minute. The Wildcats got a shot off that was blocked and the rebound granted another opportunity in which Amy Worscheh got the road team on the board and took a 1-0 lead into the second period.
  • Towson saw more possession to start the next quarter, earning a penalty corner three minutes in. Jessica von Schmidt-Pauli inserted for the Tigers and another foul in the circle put another corner on the board for Towson but no results came of it.
  • Three minutes later the Tigers were in corner position again and capitalized on it with the first goal from Samantha Aljets to even the score.
  • Six minutes later Davidson took the lead again and halftime came with a 2-1 deficit for the home team.
  • The Wildcats did not take long to get another goal in to start the third period in free space and extending the lead to two goals.
  • Neither team saw the back of the net again in the remainder of the third.
  • In the fourth, Towson got a shot off and a corner early but Davidson cleared it out to regain possession.
  • The next Tiger corner proved to be successful after the initial shot was bounced off and Kathryn Parkinson was there to tip it back into the goal.
  • In the remaining three minutes of regulation Davidson played keep-away to let time run out.
