BALTIMORE – It's officially basketball season.
 
For the third consecutive year, Towson University participated in the annual Baltimore Basketball Media Day inside of the Physical Education Complex on Coppin State University's campus Tuesday.
 
Representing Towson were head men's basketball coach Pat Skerry, head women's basketball coach Diane Richardson, seniors Brian Fobbs and Nukiya Mayo. Towson joined Mount St. Mary's, Morgan State, Coppin State, Navy, Loyola and UMBC during the two-hour session with local television and print media.
 
Fobbs had a fun day discussing the expectations of the 2019-20 Tigers, who return 10 players from last season including 86 percent of their scoring and 90 percent of their rebounding muscle. He is focused and excited about helping the Tigers enjoy a good season.
 
"This is my first and last time because I am a senior of being part of media day and it was exciting to be here and among some of the other top players at their respective schools," Fobbs said. "The energy here today was amazing. I am excited to get the season going. Being here makes me want to work harder. The best part of the day was sharing this experience with the Towson staff."
 
A smiling and relaxed Fobbs enjoyed interacting with television stations WJZ, WBAL and WMAR as well as speaking with the Baltimore Sun and the Towson Sports Network.
 
Prior to the media breakout sessions, coaches were asked various questions from host Rob Long, who as usual was engaging, funny and prepared. Each Towson coach answered the first question from Long.
 
Towson returns its top three scorers (Brian Fobbs – 17.5 ppg., Tobias Howard – 10.2 ppg. & Nakye Sanders – 8.3 ppg.) & top three rebounders (Dennis Tunstall – 7.7 rpg., Brian Fobbs – 5.9 rpg., & Nakye Sanders – 5.5 rpg.) from last season. Fobbs (Second Team) & Tunstall (All-Defensive Team) earned All-Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) honors last season.
 
 In addition to Fobbs, Tunstall, Sanders and Howard, returnees include sophomores Allen Betrand, Jakigh Dottin, Solomon Uyaelunmo, Chris Caligurian and redshirt freshman Nicolas Timberlake. Betrand, Dottin, Uyaelunmo and Timberlake all started at least three games and played at least 10 minutes per outing.
 
Also, joining the team this season will be redshirt junior Juwan Gray, who sat out last season after transferring from San Diego. Many of the returning players had at least one double-digit scoring game last season.
 
Towson opens its season with three consecutive home games beginning with George Washington on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. It's the second game of a men's-women's doubleheader. The Towson women welcome Penn State at 4 p.m.
 
NOTES: The CAA will release its preseason predicted order of finish tomorrow as well as release its preseason All-Conference team … Towson will have a black-and-gold scrimmage at SECU Arena that's open to the public on Saturday, Oct. 12 beginning at 1 p.m.
