TOWSON, Md. – Towson University head men's basketball coach Pat Skerry has announced the signing of Darrick Jones Jr. to a National Letter of Intent to attend the University and begin playing for the Tigers in the fall of 2020.
 
A 6 foot, 5 inch 195-pound forward from Richmond, Virginia, Jones played for prestigious Oak Hall Academy. He is a versatile, athletic wing who is ultra-competitive. Offensively, he has the ability to score from multiple levels.
 
He played in 25 games as a junior, starting one of them and averaging 12.4 minutes per game for Oak Hill Academy.  In that time, Jones averaged 5.2 points and 2.5 rebounds per game, while shooting 49.4 percent from the floor and 43.8 percent from three. 
 
His high-level athleticism and strength allow him to finish in a variety of ways around the rim. He can consistently knock down perimeter shots with range. Defensively, Jones can guard multiple positions. He is super active and can provide heavy pressure on the ball handler. Jones is a tremendous rebounder from the perimeter.
 
"Darrick is an athletic versatile wing who has played three years under Hall of Fame Coach Steve Smith at perennial powerhouse Oak Hill Academy," Skerry said. "He has consistently improved his game there and fits our mold of having size toughness and athleticism on the wing. He also understands winning and comes from a great family."
 
Jones has served as a huge catalyst for Oak Hill's recent success. This past summer, Jones played with Baltimore- based AAU organization, Team Thrill, on the UnderArmour circuit.
