WASHINGTON, D.C. – Saturday afternoon the Towson University women's lacrosse team faced its second ranked opponent of the year, on the road for the second consecutive weekend. The Tigers fell at Cooper Field against No. 22 Georgetown 10-7.

Kaitlin Thornton and
Natalie Sulmonte scored two goals apiece while
Shelby Stack tallied one. Tellekamp, Sulmonte and
Kaitlin Thornton each contributed one assist.
Towson falls to 0-2 on the year while the Hoyas improve to 2-0.
How it Happened
- Saturday's game was a strong defensive battle with seven saves from the Tigers' goalie Kiley Keating and eight from Georgetown's goalie.
- Neither team found the back of the net in the first 10 minutes, before Natalie Sulmonte broke the silence with a goal at the 19:45 mark.
- One minute and 22 seconds later the Hoyas responded and the first half continued with a back-and-forth scoring.
- Sulmonte scored her second goal of the day on a free position shot to take a 2-1 lead and four minutes later the home team tied it up again.
- GU's Francesca Whitehurst scored back-to-back goals, putting the Hoyas up 3-1 with 11:47 left in the half. Two minutes later another Georgetown goal put a three-goal difference on the scoreboard.
- With two minutes left in the half, Kaitlin Thornton scored her first goal of the day assisted by Sulmonte, but the Hoyas tallied one more to close out the half, leading 5-3.
- In the first five minutes of the second half, Thornton scored again cutting the lead to one. Georgetown scored its sixth goal of the day three minutes later, continuing to stay ahead.
- Senior Carly Tellekamp scored her first goal of the year with 21:38 left in the half, assisted by Thornton. The Hoyas led 6-5 following Tellekamp's goal.
- Two minutes went by before GU scored again, leading 7-5.
- Tellekamp found herself in an open position behind the goal after a reset, she turned around two defenders and shot the ball straight past the goalie's hip to record her second goal of the day.
- After Tellekamp cut the lead to 7-6 with 14:42 to go, Shelby Stack scored one minute later on a free position shot, her first goal of the year.
- Towson still had time to take the lead after tying the game up with 13 minutes left. The Hoyas took a one-goal lead at the 12:11 mark, leading 8-7.
- The Tigers had two strong shot attempts in the following minutes, both saved, as Georgetown tallied two more goals to seal the win.
