Towson Concludes Road Schedule At Northeastern

 
BOSTON – The Towson University men's basketball team plays its final regular season road game of the 2018-19 season against Northeastern Saturday at Matthews Arena.

CAA Tournament Update
  • With three games remaining, if the tournament started today, the Tigers would be the sixth seed and open with the College of Charleston.
  • The Tigers are currently tied for sixth with Drexel, but have the tiebreaker based on their win over Northeastern (which is in second place).

Towson Update
  • Towson has won five of its last nine games.
  • Lost at Hofstra, 91-82, in double overtime Thursday despite leading 61-51 with 8:44 remaining and scoring the first six points of the first overtime.
  • Brian Fobbs is averaging 28 points over Towson's last four games.
  • Brian Fobbs had 29 points against Hofstra on 12-of-22 shooting.It was his fourth consecutive outing of 25 or more points.
  • Fobbs has seven 20-point outings in the last 10 games and 23 double-digit efforts in the past 24 contests.
  • Fobbs is fourth in the CAA in scoring (19.9 ppg.) and 12th in rebounds (6.3 rpg) in conference play.
  • Nakye Sanders recorded his second straight and third double-double of the season against Hofstra (16 points, 11 rebounds).
  • Dennis Tunstall notched his first double-double (11 points and 10 rebounds) of the season. He has two career double-doubles and eight career double-digit, including six this season, rebounding performances.
  • Tobias Howard has reached double figures in six of the last seven contests.
  • Jakigh Dottin handed out a career best seven assists in a career best 38 minutes.
  • Solomon Uyaelunmo scored a career best 14 points against Hofstra on 7-of-9 shooting. It was his fourth career double-digit scoring performance.

A Look At Northeastern
  • Led by a double-double from Anthony Green and a game-high 19 points from Vasa Pusica, the Northeastern men's basketball team rolled James Madison 76-60 at Matthews Arena to pick up the Huskies' sixth-straight home victory Thursday night.
  • The Huskies sprinted out to an early 23-5 advantage, but the Dukes battled back and closed to within 37-36 with 16:23 to play. NU responded with a 10-2 run and stayed in control the rest of the way.
  • Donnell Gresham added eight points and six boards in addition to his defensive efforts.
  • Northeastern finished with 53.7 shooting from the field, the 12thtime this season they have shot 50 percent or better from the floor.
  • Pusica has scored in double figures in 14 straight games and is averaging 20.1 points per game over his last nine contests.
  • Jordan Roland leads Northeastern with 80 3-pointers.
  • The Huskies are hitting 9.5 3-pointers per game in CAA play, which leads the league.
 
The First Meeting
  • Towson used a 49-point second half to sprint past Northeastern, 75-72.
  • Towson outrebounded Northeastern 40-22 in the game, including 17 offensive boards to 11 defensive rebounds for the Huskies.
  • The Tigers withstood 13 three-point field goals from NU, shooting 50 percent from the floor and earning 48 points in the paint to NU's 20.
  • Brian Fobbs scored 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds.Jordan McNeil shot 6-for-10 for 12 points and a pair of steals.
  • Seven Tigers had at least seven points in the game.
  • For Northeastern, each Vasa Pusica and Bolden Brace had 18 points.
 
Perfection When It Comes to Graduation
  • Towson has a perfect men's basketball graduation rate under head coach Pat Skerry.
  • The Tigers are 21-for-21.
 
Towson In the Community
  • Towson is the Division I national champion of the NCAA Team Works Helper Helper Competition for the Fall 2018 semester. Towson completed the most community service hours among all schools in the competition, including 75 different Division I departments and approximately 300 total programs across the country.
  • The Towson men's basketball team has been active in the community since returning to campus in August. Members of the team spoke at Loch Raven Academy, participated in Towson West Elementary School's Back To School Night and the Autism Speaks Walk.
  • In addition to the athletic and academic success, the Tigers ranked first nationally in Division I men's team sports for their community service activities in the 2017 NCAA Team Works Helper Helper Community Service Competition.
  • Towson hosted its annual autism clinic on Wednesday, Feb. 13 in conjunction with the Hussman Center and the women's basketball program.

  • All-session ticket books for the 2019 CAA Men's Basketball Championship go on sale Thursday, January 10 through TicketMaster (1-800-745-3000), TicketMaster.com and the North Charleston Coliseum Advance Ticket office.
  • The CAA's premier event returns to the Lowcountry on March 9-12, 2019 as the North Charleston (S.C.) Coliseum hosts nine games over four days, with the winner earning the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship.
  • Ticket books, which provide admission to all games of the tournament, can be purchased for as little as $80.
