Betrand Ties Career High Against Northeastern

BOSTON – Nakye Sanders led the Towson University men's basketball team with 13 points and seven rebounds during a 73-58 setback to Northeastern in a Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) contest at Matthews Arena Saturday afternoon.
 
How It Happened
  • Brian Fobbs reached double figures for the 25th time with 10 points.
  • Allen Betrand tied his career high with 11 points.
  • Betrand scored nine points in the second half.
  • The difference in the game was Northeastern turned 13 Towson turnovers into 18 points.
  • Sanders made a foul shot that gave Towson its largest lead, 35-31, with 18:15 remaining.
  • Sparked by Jordan McNeil, who scored all 8 of his points in the last 3:59 of the first half, Towson scored 10 straight points to lead 29-28 at intermission.
  • Towson held Northeastern scoreless over the final 3:14 of the first half.
  • Fobbs used a nice spin move to score and make the ensuing foul shot to give Towson its first lead, 13-12.
  • Towson limited Northeastern to 38.5 percent shooting (10-for-26) in the first half.
  • Northeastern missed its final five shots of the first half.
  • Tomas Murphy paced the Huskies with 21 points and 12 rebounds.
  • Vasa Pusica added 19 points and Donnell Gresham contributed 16 points for the Huskies, who used a 7-0 spurt to take the lead for good, 46-39.
