Howard And Fobbs Lead Towson Against William & Mary

TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University men's basketball team dropped a 67-65 decision to William & Mary in a Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) contest at SECU Arena Thursday night.
 
How It Happened
  • Towson had two chances to tie the game in the final 12 seconds.
  • Towson and William & Mary didn't make a basket over the final 2 minutes, 42 seconds.
  • The Tigers led 61-56 with five minutes remaining following a Brian Fobbs basket.
  • Fobbs led Towson with a game-high 22 points on 7-of-14 shooting.
  • Fobbs, who was 6-for-6 from the foul line, was one of three Towson players to finish with six rebounds.
  • Tobias Howard, Jr. scored 11 of his 13 points in the second half.
  • Dennis Tunstall (six rebounds) and Jordan McNeil scored eight points for the Tigers.
  • During one point in the second half, William & Mary and Towson combined to make 10-of-11 shots.
  • Nathan Knight led the Tribe with 19 points.
  • Knight's two foul shots with 2:12 remaining gave the Tribe the lead for good, 64-63.
  • Justin Pierre (17 points, eight rebounds) and Chase Audige (15) also reached double digits for William & Mary.
  • Each team made eight 3-pointers.
  • The Tigers sprinted to an early 15-7 lead seven minutes into the game.
  • Towson's defense forced W&M to miss nine of its first 11 shot attempts.

  • This was the 12th time this season that Fobbs scored at least 20 points.
  • Fobbs has hit for 20 points in five of his last six games.
  • Fobbs has scored in double figures 26 times this season.
  • This was Howard's 18th double-digit game this season.
  • It was also the 18th time this season that Howard has made at least two 3-pointers in a game.
  • Alex Thomas had a career-high three assists.
  • Allen Betrand had six rebounds.
  • It was Betrand's second straight game with at least five rebounds.
  • The Tigers bench outscored W&M's bench, 18-0, in the second half.
  • The second half featured 12 lead changes and seven ties.
  • William & Mary shot 53.6 percent (15-for-28) in the second half.
  • William & Mary extended its winning streak to four.
  • Eight of Towson's defeats this season have been by six points or less.
  • In addition, two of Towson's other losses were in double overtime.

  • The pre-game national anthem will be sung by Towson Melodies.
