Tennis Falls to George Washington on the Road

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Towson University women's tennis team fell at George Washington on Sunday afternoon, a 6-1 loss. The Tigers move to 2-8 on the year.
 
How it Happened
  • Towson didn't see a win in doubles action after the team of Alexa Martinez and Yevgeniya Shusterman took their opponents to a 7-5 final.
  • In singles action, Martinez took her opponent to three sets after taking a 6-4 win in the second.
  • Phoebe Collins earned the single Towson point, winning 6-0 and 6-3 in singles.
  • Shusterman took a close loss in singles, falling 7-5 in the second set after losing the first.
  • Lucy Gloninger also saw a three-set match. In the first the senior fell 6-2 and came back winning the second 6-3. In the final set the Tiger went to an 11-point set, falling 11-9.
 
From the Coach
"Today got off to a slow start against a very good team and we couldn't recover," said head coach Jamie Peterson. "We fought really hard and were competitive in most of the singles matches, but it was too little too late. We lost two singles matches in tough, close, tiebreakers."
