Nutrition Blog: Recovery Drink - Chocolate Milk

Chocolate Milk is a popular recovery drink used after practice, competition, and strength and conditioning sessions. Studies show that it can help the body rebuild, preserve, and restore. Specifically, Low-fat Chocolate milk can help prepare your muscles to perform better in later exercise.

  • Chocolate Milk is made up of both carbohydrates and high-quality proteins. The ratio of carbohydrate to protein (4 to 1) in chocolate milk has been shown to be very beneficial for recovering.
  • Chocolate milk also can help rehydrate and provide electrolytes. It is high in a wide variety of vitamins such as, Calcium and Vitamin D, both of which help with strengthening and repair of bone.
  • Chocolate milk can be a low-cost alternative to other carbohydrate sports drinks. Find some chocolate milk at your nearest grocery store and include it in your next post-workout plan.
