Softball Takes Two in Big CAA Weekend

TOWSON, Md. – A walk off home run by Julia Smith-Harrington helped Towson University softball team win two games on Friday afternoon verses Drexel at Tiger Softball Stadium.

Kendall Arcia had her fifth home run of the season as Towson won game one 11-4 and Smith-Harrington hit her eighth home run as Towson won game two 3-2.

How it Happened- Game 1
  • Drexel took an early 1-0 lead after Megan Trivelpiece singled to left field in the top of the first.
  • The Tigers regained the lead in the bottom of the first after Nicole Stockinger singled to left field scoring Madison Wilson. Then Arcia doubled to center field and Stockinger and Smith-Harrington scored (3-1).
  • Towson added to the score in the bottom of the second after a single to center field by Wilson.
  • In the bottom of the third and fourth the Tigers added a run each and went up 6-1.
  • Drexel added three more runs in the top of the fifth to cut the lead 6-4.
  • Towson added five runs in the bottom of the sixth including the homer by Arcia to seal the deal.
  • Melissa Abrahamian pitched a complete game and had two strikeouts.
How it Happened – Game 2
  • Drexel went up 1-0 in the top of the fourth inning.
  • Stockinger had a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game 1-1. Then Cassidy Meyer singled to center field scoring Arica and the Tigers went up 2-1.
  • The Dragons added a run in the top of the sixth to tie the game 2-2.
  • Smith-Harrington hit a homer on the first pitch in the bottom of the seventh to give the Tigers a 3-2 victory.
  • Sara Johnson threw a complete game and had seven strikeouts.
Up Next
Towson's final home game is tomorrow Saturday, May 4 with first pitch at noon. The Tigers will honor their three seniors Arcia, Meyer and Stockinger at the conclusion of the game.
