HARRISONBURG, Va. – Towson University softball team fell to Elon and Drexel in a double elimination match Wednesday evening in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) tournament.
In the first game of the CAA tournament Elon defeated Towson 6-1 causing the Tigers to fall to the losing bracket and having to play Drexel. In game two
Nicole Stockinger hit her 15th home run but Towson fell to the Dragons 2-1.
How it Happened- Elon
- The Tigers had nine hits during the contest.
- Jessica Swistock had three, Madison Wilson and Chloe Poulich each had two. Riley Thies and Julia Smith-Harrington each had one hit a piece for the Tigers.
- Elon scored five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 5-0 lead.
- The Phoenix added one more run in the bottom of the sixth.
- The Tigers scored in the top of the seventh after Wilson flied out to left field scoring Swistock.
- Melissa Abrahamian pitched three innings and had two strikeouts.
- Sara Johnson pitched three innings.
How it Happened –Drexel
- The Tigers took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second after Stockinger homered tying her season high.
- The Dragons scored two runs in the top of the seventh to take a 2-1 lead.
- Sara Johnson pitched a complete game and had four strikeouts.
