TOWSON, Md. - A warm Wednesday afternoon presented local field hockey action at the TU Field Hockey Complex as the Towson University field hockey team hosted No. 4 Maryland. The Terrapins left with a 5-0 victory.

How it Happened
- Maryland got on the board one minute, 11 seconds into the game in an unassisted, loose ball attempt.
- Not even two full minutes later, the road team struck again, scoring at 2:53 from Madison Maguire.Â
- Holding a 2-0 lead early in the game, the Terps scored their third goal in the fifth minute on a corner and extended the lead once more.
- After taking the 3-0 advantage, Maryland did not score again until the 48th minute.
- Towson's defense and goalkeeping held on for the entire second and third periods.
- The Terrapins took eight shots, and had seven corners, in the two 15-minute quarters, but were not able to find the back of the net
- Starting the fourth quarter, Maryland scored in the 48th minute extending the lead to four.Â
- On a corner in the 54th minute the Terps scored their final goal of the day.
Behind the Numbers
- This is Tess Okkerse's second game with five saves, she has recorded five or more saves in each game this season.
- Towson holding Maryland to five goals is the best defensive effort the Tigers have put up against the Terrapins in the last seven meetings
- In 2015 the two teams met in College Park and Towson fell 6-0, with Maryland ranked sixth nationally. Before today, the 6-0 loss was the least amount of goals the Terrapins had scored against the Tigers since at least 2000.
