Women's Soccer Falls to Penn

PHILADELPHIA – After a 90 minute rain delay, the Towson University women's soccer team fell 2-0 to Penn on Monday afternoon at Rhodes Field.

Towson (1-3-0) came out hot in the opening minutes of the game with an early shot on goal by freshman Demi Pierre and back-to back corner kicks to get the Quakers attention.

Penn's (1-1-0) first goal of the game came from Emily Sands, while the second goal came in the second half from Sizzy Lawton.

How it Happened
  • Pierre took a shot 75 seconds into the game but it was saved by the Quakers goalkeeper Kitty Qu.
  • Penn then took back-to-back shots both going wide of the goal.
  • At the 18:56 minute mark, Penn's Emily Sands scored her first goal of the season. Jackie Bruder and Emma Loving had the double assist.
  • Then Senior Justine Stoner had an attempt at the goal at the 26 minute mark but the shot went high.

  • Towson's goalkeeper Lindsey Pazdziorko had her first save of the game at the 33 minute mark after a shot by Paige Howard.
  • Howard had another shot on goal but it went high.
  • After a nice cross from Nikki Logan, Madison Carr tried a header to put the Tigers on board but Qu had another save.
  • Logan would take the last shot going into the half but it went wide right.
  • 30 seconds into the second half, the Quakers had their second goal from Sizzy Lawton, assisted from Emma Loving. It was Lawton's first goal of the season and just enough to give Penn the 2-0 final score.
  • Sands and Loving had shot attempts on goal, one went wide and one went high.
  • Pazdziorko had two more saves for the Tigers after shot attempts from Abbey Duncan (71 mark) and Howard (75 mark).
  • Right before the rain delay, Penn's Jackie Bruder had a header shot that went high.
  • With about 21 minutes left to play, the Tiger offense came out smoking with back-to back shots from Jenna Blank and Canoles, both saved by Qu.
  • Even though the Tiger offense controlled the ball the rest of the game, Towson was unable to get any more shots off.
