Beachley Scores as Towson Falls to Rider Friday Afternoon

TOWSON, Md. - Friday afternoon the Towson University field hockey team continued it's 2019 campaign against Rider. The Tigers fell 4-1.

Freshman Georgia Beachley scored the Towson goal, assisted by fellow rookie Samantha Aljets.

How it Happened
  • The opening minutes were action packed as the Tigers got on the board in the second minute of action.
  • Aljets had possession to the right of the goal and passed the ball to Beachley who had a clear shot between the goalkeeper and a defender.
  • Her shot went straight into the middle of the goal and the Tigers took the lead.
  • In the next four minutes the Broncs scored two unanswered and took a 2-1 lead.
  • Neither team saw the back of the net in the second period although the Broncs took two shots on goal and had two corners in the final few minutes.
  • Just two minutes into the third, a Rider foul on a Towson shot attempt resulted in a penalty stroke.
  • Sophomore Beira Ho set up for the attempt and shot it to the left where the Broncs' goalkeeper grabbed the save.
  • Rider had four straight corners and scored its third goal of the day off a corner, with room by the net Carly Brosious extended the lead to two.
  • The fourth period was filled with corners as well, one resulting in the fourth goal of the afternoon from Rider.
