TOWSON, Md. – The 2019-20 Towson University men's basketball season is here. The Tigers return 10 players from last season and have an exciting schedule this season. To help fans get hyped, each Friday through Nov. 1, there will be five random facts about the Tigers, their schedule, players, program and more heading into their season.
This is the first of six installments. Enjoy.
- As a team, the Tigers were 32nd nationally in rebounding margin (5.0) and 37th in offensive rebounds per game (12.2). The Tigers also ranked 73rd in fewest turnovers and 94th in total rebounds (1,182), a total that was second in the CAA.
- The Tigers are playing Morgan State (Wednesday, Dec. 4) for the seventh straight season and UMBC (Tuesday, Dec. 10) for the 12th consecutive year. Towson will visit Morgan State and host UMBC.
- Nakye Sanders finished ninth in the CAA in blocked shots (0.6), 13th in offensive rebounds per game (1.5), and 15th in rebounding. He scored in double figures 14 times and recorded three double-doubles.
- Tigers return 86 percent of their scoring punch and 90 percent of their rebounding muscle from last season including their top three scorers and top three rebounders.
- Jakigh Dottin started the Tigers final 13 games of the season. He scored a career-high 12 points against La Salle on Dec. 22 and William & Mary on Dec. 30. Dottin was one of eight Towson players to play at least 10 minutes per game last season.
Towson begins its season against George Washington at SECU Arena on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. It's the second half of a women's-men's doubleheader. The Towson women host Penn State at 4 p.m.
