DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – In one of the premier post-collegiate bowl games in the country, Tom Flacco stood out as one of the stars, earning National Team Offensive MVP recognition with three total touchdowns in the SPIRAL Tropical Bowl on Sunday morning.
 
Flacco, the starting quarterback for the National Team against the American Team, finished the game with three touchdowns, two passing and one rushing, helping the National Team win 35-7.
 
"We came out here and competed, I think the [National] Team did a great job, can't ask for more as a quarterback," said Flacco.
 
His passing touchdowns were a 69-yard heave down the sideline to Penn State's Dan Chisena on fourth down and a 25-yard throw across the middle to Morgan State's Manasseh Bailey.  On his rushing touchdown, he spun out of a potential sack on play action and bolted eight yards to the pylon for the score.
 
On the game, Flacco threw 11-for-18 with 173 yards, two passing touchdowns and one interception, adding 17 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown.  He finished the game with six completions of at least 10 yards.
 
The Tropical Bowl, which began in 2016, features top college football seniors for National Football League (NFL) scouts and general managers in preparation for the upcoming draft and offseason.  The game featured several players from FCS and FBS institutions, including from Power Five institutions.
 
Flacco was selected to the Tropical Bowl roster earlier in the week and took part in the festivities during the weekend, culminating in the game on Sunday in Daytona Beach, Florida.
 
Flacco played at Towson the last two years, helping the Tigers earn a pair of winning seasons.  At quarterback, he amassed over 6,000 passing yards and stands third in program history with 50 passing touchdowns, being a Walter Payton Award finalist in 2018 and 2019.
