Women's Basketball to Play Chestnut Hill on Wednesday

TOWSON, Md. – A five-game home stand continues for the Towson University women's basketball team with a nonconference game against Chestnut Hill College on Wednesday night.
 
Tip is set for 7 p.m. in SECU Arena and the Tigers are celebrating Hoops 'N Heels night. Members of the Hoops 'N Heels program will be celebrated, and the Towson Women's Faculty and Staff Association will be in attendance for a networking event.
 
The game will be broadcast on FloSports and the Towson Sports Network with Ben Rosenbaum on the call and Dave Vatz on color commentary. Live stats are available on TowsonTigers.com on the women's basketball schedule page.
 
LAST TIME OUT
The Tigers are coming off a tough loss to William & Mary on Sunday where Towson came within three points of tying the game twice in the fourth quarter but was unable to bridge the gap. Kionna Jeter led the Tigers with 19 points, Q. Murray dropped 18 and Nukiya Mayo joined them in the double-figure club with 12. Towson saw a solid shooting performance with 48 from the field but struggled from three and saw the Tribe score 15 points off turnovers.
 
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Towson enters the week with a 4-8 record, led by Kionna Jeter offensively with 18.4 points per game. Jeter is assisted by Nukiya Mayo with 14.6 points per game and Q. Murray with 10.6 a night. Mya Jones rounds out the double digit scorers with 10.4 points on average. Jeter also paces the Tigers on the glass with 6.7 rebounds on average and in steals with 3.4 per game. Murray leads Towson in assists with 4.7 per game. Mayo has a team-high 18 blocks this season, 1.5 per game.
 
SCOUTING THE GRIFFINS
Chestnut Hill comes to town with a 3-11 record after falling to Dominican College on Sunday. The Griffins have three players averaging double figures with Cassie Sebold leading the way with 12.3 points per game. Lauren Crim follows averaging 11.9 points while Leah Miller rounds out the trio posting 10.1 points a night. Miller leads the team in blocks with 16 so far and rebounds with 8.9 on average. Sebold leads the team in assists.
 
TIGERS IN THE COMMUNITY
The Towson University athletics department deems community service as one of its highest priorities to give back to the Greater Baltimore area. For the seventh consecutive year, the department exceeded 10,000 hours of community service to the Greater Baltimore region, finishing with 11,162 hours of community service in the 2018-19 academic season. Towson ranked No. 1 nationally for community service and won the 2018 National Championship for Community Service through the Helper Helper NCAA Team Works Competition. Towson had a 97% participation rate, attended 118 community service opportunities and volunteered with 19 organizations. Towson won the 2018 Volunteer of the Year Award from Susan G. Komen of Maryland.
