TOWSON, Md. – This week's Tiger Talk, Spiro Morekas, the voice of the Towson Tigers since 1991-92, sits down with Towson men's basketball coach Pat Skerry and senior guard Zane Martin. 

Skerry took over a program that had endured 15 consecutive losing seasons. Towson enters the 2020-21 season having won at least 18 games in six of the last eight years and have participated in two postseason tournaments. In 2015-16 and 2016-17, Towson finished with at least 20 wins, the first time as a Division I program that Towson has won 20 games in consecutive seasons. The Tigers enjoyed a strong 2019-20 campaign that resulted in 19 victories and a third-place finish in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) for the third time in five years. Five players earned All-CAA honors, the most of any school in the conference. The team won a program record seven CAA road games and had a seven-game winning streak during the month of January.

Martin played the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons for Towson then went to New Mexico for two years.  After sitting out in 2018-19, the Philadelphia native competed during the 2019-20 season with the Lobos and has a year left of eligibility.  Martin earned second team All Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) honors in the 2017-18, averaging 19.8 points per contest, shooting 45.8% from the field and 38% from three-point range.  His performance also earned him a spot on the Lou Henson Award Midseason Watch List and National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District 10 Second Team.  His scoring average ranked third in the CAA, scoring at least 20 points in 18 contests that season. This past season with New Mexico, Martin averaged 10.1 points and 3.1 assists per game and helped the Lobos win 19 games. Martin has 1,148 career points, averaging 11.7 points per contest.
