TOWSON, Md. – This week's Tiger Talk, Spiro Morekas, the voice of the Towson Tigers, sits down with former Towson University Sports Information Director
Pete Schlehr for the second time, bringing back some great stories from his time here.
A 1971 Towson graduate, Schlehr spent 36 years as the Director of Athletic Media Relations at his alma mater (Dec. 1975-June 2011).
Schlehr never missed a Tigers football game while working at Towson. During the program's development from NCAA Division III status to Division II affiliation to its current FCS standing, he covered 378 consecutive games, a streak that ranks as fifth longest in College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) history.
As the men's lacrosse contact for three decades, Schlehr worked more than 450 games. In 1992, he became the first college media relations official to receive the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association's prestigious Doyle Smith Media Award. In addition, Schlehr worked more than 1,100 men's basketball games. He was inducted into the Towson Athletics Hall of Fame in 2015.
