HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. — In a defensive showdown, the Towson University Field Hockey team fell to Colonial Athletic Association foe Hofstra, 2-0.
Sarah Hatfield put two shots on goal to lead the offense and goalkeeper Lena Vandam made three saves.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first period was quiet as the only action of the period was a late penalty corner and shot from Hofstra.
- Just before the 19th minute of the contest, Hofstra scored to take the 1-0 advantage. The goal came off the Pride's second corner of the contest.
- Mackenzie Tillman got a shot off late in the period but couldn't get Towson on the board before halftime.
- Kathryn Parkinson inserted a corner early but couldn't convert. Shortly after, Hofstra attempted its own penalty corner and shot.
- In the 34th minute, Cami Lasson cashed in on a penalty stroke to give her team the 2-0 advantage. The third period ended with little action.
- The Tigers came on strong in the end, attempting a game high four shots two corners but could not find the back of the net.
BEYOND THE BOX
- Five unique Tigers registered shots on goal during the game including Hatfield, Parkinson, Tiillma, Dominique Nelson and Gianna Antone. Hatfield and Antone both had multi-shot efforts.
- Hofstra and Towson were equal on shots, each taking seven and putting five on frame.
- Friday's win marks the Pride's first in CAA play.
NEXT GAME
Towson will return home to finish out the fall with three home games. The Tigers will host Northeastern in its last CAA game of the season on Friday, Oct. 22 at 3 p.m. That same weekend, Towson will also welcome Colgate on Sunday, Oct. 24 at 1 p.m.
