RICHMOND, Va. -- On the eve of the 2021 CAA Women's Volleyball Championship Presented by Primis, three Towson University Tigers have earned All-CAA honors. The Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) made its announcement Wednesday morning.
Fay Bakodimou and Emily Jarome were selected First Team All-CAA while Nina Cajic was named Second Team All-CAA.Â
James Madison outside hitter Miëtte Veldman was voted by the league's head coaches as the 2021 CAA Player of the Year. Elon University's Haylie Clark was tapped as the Setter of the Year while Hofstra University's Chiara Cucco was the Libero of the Year. Fellow Pride member Beatriz Alves was the Rookie of the Year. Elon's head coach, Mary Tendler, was named CAA Coach of the Year after guiding the Phoenix to a program-best season in the league and a second-place finish in the standings.
Towson, the two-time defending CAA Champion, completed the 2021 regular season atop the league standings with a 12-4 league record, earning the program's second-straight CAA Regular Season Championship and the right to host the 2022 CAA Tournament. Overall, the Tigers are currently 24-4 heading into the CAA Championships and begin play in the semifinal round, earning the bye as the top seed. Towson will face the winner of Thursday's first semifinal match between No. 4 Delaware and No. 5 Northeastern.

Fay Bakodimou | Outside Hitter | Senior | Athens, Greece
2021 First Team All-CAA
One of Towson's most consistent players, Fay Bakodimou has led Towson on the attack this season, averaging 2.88 kills per set, landing 288 swings at a .258 percentage. Bakodimou has been deadly from the service line, scoring 57 total aces, which ranks third among Division I players. Her 0.57 service aces per set ranks sixth in the country as well. Bakodimou picks up 1.55 digs per set on average, adding to Towson's defense with a half-block per set average. The Athens, Greece native has 50 total blocks this fall, including six solo efforts in her 100 sets played. Bakodimou has 17 matches this fall with at least 10 kills, in addition to a 13-match service ace streak, which is active entering the CAA Championships. She reignited that ace streak on Sept. 26 against UNCW, landing a season-best six aces against the Seahawks at SECU Arena.
Emily Jarome | Outside Hitter | Senior | Wilmington, Delaware

A full six-rotation player, Emily Jarome has had a solid year for the Tigers. She currently ranks second on the team in kills per set, landing 2.77 a frame. The Wilmington, Delaware product has had her best season on the attack, carrying a .276 hitting percentage into the CAA Tournament, nearly a full percentage point better than her previous best season. Jarome has scored 28 service aces this fall while posting nine assists. The senior is second on the team in digs per set, scooping up 2.57 on average. In serve-receive, Jarome has been targeted a team-high 574 times, but has allowed only 37 reception errors (.936), the second-best reception percentage among Towson's regular backline defense. Jarome has been in on 62 total blocks this year, landing 0.64 blocks per set, including seven solo stops, three of which came last weekend against Northeastern.
Nina Cajic | Opposite Hitter | Sophomore | Subotica, Serbia
2020 First Team All-CAA | CAA All-Rookie | 2021 Second Team All-CAA
Despite missing several weeks of league play with an upper body injury, Nina Cajic earns All-CAA honors for a second straight year. Hailing from Subotica, Serbia, Cajic averages 2.64 kills per set, ranking third on the team. She has a team second-best .346 hitting percentage, which ranks fifth in the CAA and first for a non-middle blocker. The sophomore has blocked well this year, putting down 53 blocks in 69 sets, averaging 0.77 per set this fall. Cajic averages 0.84 digs per set as well, getting a hand on 58 total this year.
