TOWSON, Md. –
Lindsey Toneygay and
Mackenzie Lake each had homeruns for the Towson University softball team as they dropped both contest Wednesday afternoon to Howard.
In game one, Toneygay hit her first home run of the season as Towson (4-2) fell to Howard (7-2) 8-4. In the second contest both Toneygy and Lake had homers as the game was called in the sixth inning due to visibility. The final score was 4-2.
How it Happened- Game 1
- The Bison got out to an early lead in the first inning taking a 1-0 lead after a single by Kalita Dennis.
- The Tigers tied the game in the bottom of the fourth after a double to center field by Madyson Peters scored Julia Jackson.
- Howard added four more runs in the top of the sixth to take a 5-1 lead.
- Towson got the bats rolling in the bottom of the sixth cutting into the lead 4-5 after Peters had another double scoring Lauren Ringhiser. Then, Toneygay had a two run homer to cut into Howard's lead.
- The Bison sealed the deal in the top of the seventh adding four more runs to win the game.
Inside the Numbers -Game 1
- Peters led the Tigers with two doubles.
- Toneygay had her second homerun for Towson, first of the season.
- Madeline Harris pitched 1.2 innings for the Tigers with one strikeout.
- Jackson pitched 5.1 innings with one strikeout.
How it Happened – Game 2
- Howard took an early 4-0 lead after scoring one run in the top of the first and then adding three more runs in the top of the second.
- Towson cut into the lead in the bottom of the second after Lake hit her first homerun of the season. (4-1)
- Towson added another run in the bottom of the sixth with a solo homerun from Toneygay to make the final score 4-2.
Inside the Numbers- Game 2
- This was Toneygay's second straight game with a homerun.
- This was Lake's first career home run.
- Chloe Poulich added to the stat line with one double.
- Bre McDowell pitched 4 innings and faced 16 batters.
- Melissa Abrahamian pitched 2 innings with one strikeout.

"While we were disappointed in the outcomes today the mistakes that we made are things that we can correct," said Costello. "We are looking forward to a couple days of practice and getting back after it this weekend."

Towson is back home for a weekend series against La Salle March 13-14 inside Tiger Softball Stadium. The first game of the doubleheader scheduled for Saturday will begin at noon.
