ELON, N.C – Despite a double-double performance from Aleah Nelson and 19 points from Kionna Jeter, the No. 4 Towson women's basketball team dropped a heartbreaking 77-67 decision to No. 5 Hofstra in the Quarterfinals of the CAA Championship Tournament.
Nelson and Jeter were the only Tigers to reach double digit scoring. Nelson contributed 11 points and 11 assists to earn her third career double-double. The 11 dimes also ties a conference-high Nelson set earlier this season against Morgan State. Jeter netted 19 in addition to registering nine rebounds and four steals.
Allie Kubek grabbed a team-high 11 boards as well as scoring nine points.
JaKayla Brown was one of four Hofstra players with double figure scoring efforts, scoring a game-high 26 points. Jayla Hines secured a double-double of 16 points and 14 rebounds for The Pride. Hofstra will advance on to the semifinal round of the tournament and face the winner of the No. 1 Delaware vs. No. 9 UNCW game.

Beyond the Box:
- As a Tiger, Jeter has scored in double figures 75 times in 83 career games. \
- Nelson has topped the Tigers in assists 18 of 19 contests this season.
- Towson shot 85.71 percent from beyond the arc while Hofstra was 23.08 percent from 3-point range.
- Nelson (6-for-6), Kubek (4-for-4) and LaKaitlin Wright (2-for-2) were all perfect from thw charity stripe.
- The contest saw four lead changes and three ties between the two programs.
How it Happened:
- Hofstra came out hot, scoring 10 points in the opening three minutes of action.
- Kubek drained a 3-pointer to put Towson on the board during the run. Wright added two free throws to cut the lead, 12-5
- Both teams ended the final 2:30 of the quarter scoreless with The Pride up, 18-7.
- The Tigers came back in the second quarter, answering almost every point put up by Hofstra.
- At the 5:15 mark, Tarriyonna Gary hit a 3-pointer to spark an 8-0 run for Towson, capped off by a layup off a steal from Jeter to make it a five-point contest. The Tigers forced five turnovers from The Pride during the span.
- Hofstra made three layups at the end of the half, in addition to a jumper from Nelson on the other side of the court, to make the score 35-26 going into the locker room.
- Kiara Johnson started off the second half netting four points to cut the lead to seven. The Tigers then went scoreless for the next 4:36 with four turnovers.
- At the 3:15 mark, Towson scored six consecutive unanswered points followed by a big five points from Jeter to end the qaurter down three points.
- Jeter stayed hot, opening the final quarter with her second 3-pointer of the game to knot the score at 48. A jumper from Smith put the team up two.
- At just under seven minutes, the Tigers got out to their biggest lead of the game with a score of 55-50 thanks to another 3-pointer from Jeter.
- The back and forth continued until Brown tied it up at 60 with a free throw at the 2:10 mark in the fourth quarter. Neither team would score for the remainder of regulation and the game would go into overtime.
- Hofstra struck first in the five-minute overtime period, with two layups to take the early lead.
- Two made shots from Kubek from behind the line put the game within two points, 64-62.
- Following two scores from The Pride, Johnson converted on a three-point play to cut the lead to three.
- The Pride went on a 9-2 run to end the overtime period and seal the 77-67 victory.
