TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University baseball team fell in both seven-inning games of the Sunday doubleheader to UMass 3-1 and 10-1.
Towson (4-15) had the potential tying run on second in the final inning of game one vs. UMass (6-5), but stranded the runners in scoring position. Towson did split in the four-game series having won both games of the Saturday doubleheader.
Key Stats:
- Nolan Young hit safely in both games for Towson, combining to go 2-for-5 with a run and a walk. Billy Godrick reached base safely in each game, finishing 1-for-4 with two free passes while Beau Blowers had a pinch hit single in the seventh inning of game two.
- Each Towson starter had defeats: Danny Madden (0-2) fell in game one, going three innings with three runs and two strikeouts while Nick Ramanjulu (0-4) got the loss in game two, having four runs, three earned, in 3.2 innings. Andalo Santangelo threw three scoreless innings with three strikeouts while Kody Reeser, Cam Clark and Jake Pecilunas all threw at least one scoreless inning.
- For UMass, Dylan Judd combined to hit 4-for-6, including two home runs and five RBI. Each starter got the win: game one starter Zack Given (1-0) pitched four innings with a run and three strikeouts while Daniel Livnat (1-0) won game two off five no-hit innings, striking out three. Jack Pawloski picked up a save in game one, throwing the last three innings scoreless.
How It Happened (Game 1):
- UMass got the first runs in the top of the second, getting four consecutive singles for three runs to lead 3-0.
- Towson got a run back in the next half-inning. After back-to-back singles from Nolan Young and Nick Brown, Jacob Terao brought in a run on a ground out to third to make it 3-1 UMass.
- Andalo Santangelo and Kody Reeser held UMass without runs, and a combined two hits, the rest of the way. In the seventh, Towson looked for a final rally, walking the bases loaded with two outs. But Towson's final batter was called out on batter's interference, ending the game. UMass got the 3-1 win.
How It Happened (Game 2):
- UMass again got the early lead in the second inning off a two-run home run from Dylan Judd.
- Later in the fourth, Judd added another two-run home run, then got an RBI double in the sixth. The Minutemen followed with an RBI single and another run across on a passed ball in the sixth to be up 7-0.
- Towson got a run back in the sixth: with a player on second and two out, Billy Godrick singled to short, then Bryce Frederick scored on a subsequent throwing error at short.
- UMass added three more runs in the final inning and won 10-1.
Inside the Numbers:
- Beau Blowers earned his first hit as a Tiger with a single in the seventh of game two.

Towson is back at Schuerholz on Wednesday, March 24 to host George Washington at 3 p.m.
