TOWSON, MD. The Towson University softball team dropped two games to Delaware Saturday afternoon inside Tiger Softball Stadium.
In game one, Towson (10-11, 0-5 CAA) fell to Delaware (15-3, 5-2) 10-4 before falling 9-3 in game two.
In game one,
Madison Wilson went 2-for-4 and
Mackenzie Lake went 1-for-3 with one RBI. All together four Tigers had a RBI in the game and
Julia Jackson faced 23 batters.
In game two, Lake went 2-for-3, while
Chloe Poulich and
Lauren Ringhiser both went 1-for-3.
Both starting pitchers for Delaware, Emily Winburn and Delani Sheehan pitched the entire game.
How it Happened – Game 1
- Delaware took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning.
- The Tigers came back swinging in the bottom of the first taking a 4-1 lead after three Tigers had singles.
- Delaware would control the rest of the game scoring two more runs in the top of the third and then scoring six runs in the top of the fourth.
- Delaware had two home runs in the top of the fourth including a three-run homer by Hanna Garber and a two-run homer by Karolina Flores.
- The Blue Hens added one more run in the top of the fifth to seal the deal.

- Jackson threw 3.2 innings with four groundouts and two strikeouts.
- She moves to 4-3 on the season.
- Madeline Harris threw 3.1 innings, faced 13 batters and had three strikeouts.
How it Happened – Game 2
- The Blue Hens took an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning.
- The Tigers cut into the lead 3-1 in the bottom of the first after a double by Poulich scored the runners on base.
- Delaware's Hanna Garber hit a triple and Brooke Glanden hit a three-run homer in the top of the second to give the Blue Hens a 7-1 lead.
- After three innings Delaware had an 8-1 lead.
- The Tigers scored two more runs in the bottom of the seventh on a fielder's choice by Jess DaBreo and a single to right field by Rylee Penrod.
Inside the Numbers
- Five Tigers had hits during the game including two hits by Lake.
- Melissa Abrahamian moves to 4-4 on the season after pitching 5 innings with a season-high eight strikeouts.
- Harris threw 2 innings.
