TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University field hockey team dropped a tough 1-2 decision in overtime against Hofstra on Friday afternoon.
The first two goals of the contest were scored in the first 3:07 of the first quarter before the Pride scored the golden goal in the 10:00 overtime period.
Elizabeth Harper scored her first career goal in just her second start of the season for the Tigers.
The Pride's leading scorer, Jasmijn Verdoes, scored both of the team's goals. She now has five goals on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Towson struck first with a goal just :33 into action. Harper scored just inside the circle off a pass from Beira Ho.
- Not long after at the 3:07 mark, Hofstra answered to knot the score at 1-1.
- Play was quiet for the next three quarter with no solid chances by either side.
- In the second quarter, each team registered one shot while the Tigers added two more in the third quarter.
- Neither team had a penalty corner until the final 15:00 of regulation, when the Pride earned two consecutive attempts.
- In the overtime period, Hofstra got two shots off in addition to one more penalty corner.
- Towson tried its one and only penalty corner of the game in addition to contributing one more shot.
- Hofstra came out on top in the end with a goal in the 63rd minute, just 3:00 into the overtime period.
BEYOND THE BOX
- Tiger goalkeeper Lena Vandam made four saves.
- Kaiya Townsend Sabur and Samantha Aljets each put one shot on goal.
- Ho also contributed a shot and an assist.
- Harper's goal marks the first of her career. She is currently nearing the end of her sophomore campaign.
- This win for Hofstra marks their second overtime win of the season as they also defeated Wagner (March 5) in overtime, 1-0.
