TOWSON, Md. - For the third time this season, the Towson University softball earned a victory against local opponent Coppin State.
Towson (9-8) shout-out the Eagles (1-19) 5-0 Wednesday afternoon inside Tiger Softball Stadium.
Mackenzie Lake led the way going 2-for-2 with two doubles in the afternoon and pitcher
Melissa Abrahamian faced 24 batters and tied a season-high four strikeouts.
How it Happened
- The Tigers took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second after Chloe Poulich and Lake reached base and a single to right field by Cali Christopher scored them both.
- Then, a sacrifice fly by Nicole Kidwiler scored Christopher.
- In the bottom of the fourth the Tigers added two more runs on two hits.
- Poulich reached base on a bunt, Lake had her second double of the game and a passed ball advanced them both scoring Poulich. A fielder's choice by Christopher scored Lake to give Towson a 5-0 lead.
- A groundout by Brissa Alvarado ended the game.
Inside the Numbers
- Abrahamian threw six innings allowing only four walks and had eight groundouts.
- Madeline Harris pitched the bottom of the seventh and had two strikeouts.
- Abrahamian improves to 4-3 this season.
- Towson had eight hits and zero errors while Coppin had three hits and one error.
