TOWSON, Md. – Nakye Sanders is ready for his first professional season, heading to Portugal to suit up for CD Povoa/Monteadriano for the 2021-22 year.
After transferring to Towson from Duquesne, Sanders was a two-year starter in the Towson frontcourt, shooting 50.3% in his Tiger career. He averaged 8.7 points and 5.9 rebounds per contest, totaling 541 points and 367 rebounds in 62 games played.
With Sanders's signing, three members of the 2019-20 Towson senior class have or will have played a professional season in Europe: Sanders in Portugal,
Brian Fobbs in Finland and
Dennis Tunstall in Luxembourg.
CD Póvoa is playing in the Liga Portuguesa de Basquetebol (Portuguese Basketball League [LPB]) this coming season after winning the Proliga this past year, elevating up to the LPB with its performance. The team plays in Póvoa de Varzim along the Atlantic Ocean in northwestern Portugal.
